April 8 & 9, 2025 - CBT Issues

April 8th, 2025
Dear West Seneca Central School District Parents and Guardians,
Today, students in grades 3-8 were scheduled to take part 2 of their NYS English Language Arts (ELA) Assessment, which is a computer based assessment. Across the state, there have been widespread technical issues when students were attempting to log into the assessment.
The vast majority of our middle school students were unable to access the assessment, and therefore, we have suspended their testing. These middle school students resumed a typical class schedule. Those who were unable to take their assessment today will attempt to take the assessment again tomorrow.
Since we have not yet received information from NYS Department of Education on when their technical issues at the state level will be resolved, we have postponed testing until tomorrow for our elementary students as well.
I understand that changes like this can be frustrating, and are impressed by how our students responded with flexibility and adaptability. Thank you to our teachers, staff and principals who adjusted their plans for today and to our families for your continued support.
Sincerely,
Lisa Krueger, Ed.D.
Superintendent of Schools

Dear West Seneca Central School District Parents and Guardians,
I am disappointed to share that the New York State computer based assessment system has had widespread technical issues again today across the state. Our grade 3-8 students attempted to take part 2 of their NYS English Language Arts (ELA) Assessment again this morning, and many were unable to complete the assessment.
We did have some students who were able to complete their assessment today. For those students who were unable to complete the assessment today, we will attempt to have them complete their assessment tomorrow.
Thank you to our teachers, staff and principals who adjusted their plans for today and to our families for your continued support.
Sincerely,
Lisa Krueger, Ed.D.
Superintendent of Schools
